Schedule

Social events that are listed below (meals, day trips, etc), are entirely optional. You can join us for anything, everything, or nothing. 

Sunday (June 30) 

• 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM - Drop off campers at Camp Wil-A-Way

  • 210 S. Broad Street, Unit 5. Winder, GA 30680

  • Gates will open at 2:00 PM

  • Check-in is between 2:00 PM and 4:00PM. Each cabin group has been assigned a time for registration according to your camper’s cabin assignment.

  • Check in will be conducted entirely from the car - there will be no need to park or leave your vehicle.

  • Please check the parent/caregiver handbook for more information.

• 6:00 PM - Meet and Greet at Saucehouse BBQ

  • 830 W Broad St. Athens, GA 30601 (Right around the corner from the Best Western within easy walking distance)

  • BBQ, plates including sides run $12 - $35 but most are $15 - $20)

  • Come meet other parents who are in town either for the day or for the week.

Monday (July 1)

• 6:00-9:00 AM - BREAKFAST

• 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM - Parent Workshop Day 1

• 6:00 PM - Dinner at Taqueria Tsunami

  • Asian Fusion tacos, entrees run about $12 - $15

Tuesday (July 2)

• 6:00-9:00 AM - BREAKFAST

  • Dinner & Trivia Night at Akademia Brewing Company

Wednesday (July 3)

• 6:00-9:00 AM - BREAKFAST

DAYTIME GROUP ACTIVITY OPTIONS:

Option #1: Explore Helen, GA

• 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM - Helen, GA (Bavarian town)

  • Helen group will meet in hotel lobby at 9:45 AM.  Helen is 64 miles from the hotel, or about 80 minutes by car. 

  • Tubing on the Chattahoochee River: Cool River Tubing ($14/person)

  • Alternatively, explore the town and do some shopping

  • There are several restaurants open for lunch in Helen at various price points.

OR

Option #2: Stay in Athens, GA

• 10:00 AM - Hiking on North Oconee River Greenway (~3 miles) 

  • FREE

  • 139 Ruth St, Athens, GA 30601 (1.7 mi from hotel, 6 min drive)

  • Athens group will leave the hotel around 10 AM for the park.

• 1:30 PM - State Botanical Garden of Georgia 

  • FREE

  • 2450 S. Milledge Avenue, Athens, GA 30605 (4.2 mi from hotel, 10 min drive)

• Athens group will leave from the hotel around 1:30 PM for the Botanical Garden.

Thursday (July 4)

• 5:00 PM - Fireworks / Food Trucks / Music in Downtown Braselton

  • Recommended to show up in Braselton around 5:00 PM.

  • Recommended parking: library or surface lots. The parking deck close by is very crowded when leaving.

  • Food truck prices are approx. $10 - $20 and lines can be long

  • Parade at 6:00, music at 6:30, fireworks after dark (approx. 9:00 - 9:30)

Friday (July 5)

• 10:30 - 12:00 PM - Camper Pick-Up

  • The Gates will open at 10:30am on Friday, July 5, 2024.

  • Departure will take place from 10:30am-12:00pm. Each cabin group will be assigned a time for check-in.

  • All campers and leaders-in-training (LITS) must depart camp by 12:00pm. 

  • CTAS will ONLY release campers only to the adult(s) listed on the application or in receipt of the pick up slip (provided at check in). If another adult will be picking up your camper, you must notify the Camp Director by emailing Olivia with the FULL NAME of the individual picking up your camper to olivia@camptwitchandshout.org 24 hours prior to departure. Be advised that individuals picking up campers must bring a photo ID.
