Social events that are listed below (meals, day trips, etc), are entirely optional. You can join us for anything, everything, or nothing. 

Saturday (June 28) 

• 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM - Star-Spangled Classic Fireworks at Southeast Clarke Park

  • 4440 Lexington Rd, Athens, GA 30605

  • For families in town early. The first formal activity of the parent workshop is the meet and greet Sunday evening.

  • Meet in the 3rd floor lounge at BW Athens hotel at 6:00 PM for activities or 8:00 PM for fireworks

  • Kids activities begin at 6:00 PM

  • Fireworks begin approximately 9:30 PM

  • Food trucks available

Sunday (June 29) 

• ~2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (TBA) - Drop off campers at Camp Twin Lakes West (CHANGED FROM LAST YEAR)

  • 1391 Keencheefoonee Rd, Rutledge GA 30663

  • Dropoff times and information will be posted here when we know them.

  • Please check the parent/caregiver handbook for more information.

• 7:00 PM - Meet and Greet at Ted's Most Best

  • 254 W Washington St, Athens, GA 30601 (in downtown Athens 0.9 mi from the hotel)

  • Pizza, pasta, sandwiches, salads, beer. Entrees run about $10 - $12

  • Come meet other parents who are in town either for the day or for the week.

Monday (June 30)

• 6:00-9:00 AM - BREAKFAST

• 6:00 pm - Dinner at Taqueria Tsunami

Tuesday (July 1)

• 6:00-9:00 AM - BREAKFAST

Thursday (July 3)

DAYTIME GROUP ACTIVITY OPTIONS:

Option #1: Explore Helen, GA

• 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM - Helen, GA (Bavarian town)

  • Helen group will meet in hotel lobby at 9:45 AM.  Helen is 64 miles from the hotel, or about 80 minutes by car. 

  • Tubing on the Chattahoochee River: Cool River Tubing ($14/person)

  • Alternatively, explore the town and do some shopping

  • There are several restaurants open for lunch and dinner in Helen at various price points.

OR

Option #2: Stay in Athens, GA

• 10:00 AM - Hiking/Biking on the Firefly Trail (~4.4 miles) 

  • FREE

  • 800 E Broad St, Athens, GA 30601 (1.2 mi from hotel)

  • Bring your bike or rollerblades if you prefer

  • Athens group will leave the hotel around 10 AM for the trail.

• 1:30 PM - Georgia Museum of Art 

  • FREE but requires reservations / e-tickets you can get in advance on their website

  • 90 Carlton St, Athens, GA 30605 (on UGA Campus 2.0 mi from hotel, 7 min drive)

• Athens group will leave from the hotel around 1:30 PM for the Museum.

Friday (July 4)

• TBA - Camper Pick-Up

  • Pickup information is TBA and will be posted here once we've got it.

  • Please check the parent/caregiver handbook for more information.

• ~1:00 PM (time TBA) - Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen  for lunch after camp

  • 2040 Oconee Connector, Athens, GA 30606

  • South side of Athens on the way back from camp to the hotel

  • We will have the patio reserved. It’s dog-friendly.

• 5:00 PM - Fireworks in Braselton

  • For any families sticking around after camp pick-up

  • Recommended to show up in Braselton around 5:00 PM.

  • Recommended parking: library or surface lots. The parking deck close by is very crowded when leaving.

  • Food truck prices are approx. $10 - $20 and lines can be long

  • Parade at 6:00, music at 6:30, fireworks after dark (approx. 9:00 - 9:30)
